BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech cruised to a 94-59 victory over the St. Joseph Hawks, off pinpoint shooting, an unrelenting fastbreak attack and constant defensive pressure.

After the first made basket of the game by Neoklis Avdalas, the Hokies stayed in control of the game, outpacing St. Joe's in points in the paint, off fastbreaks and off turnovers.

Defensively, Tech made its presence felt by forcing 19 turnovers, thanks to efforts by Ben Hammond and Amani Hansberry, who ended the game with three steals each.

The forced turnovers led to mismatches and open looks the Hokies took advantage of, including four converted alley-oops, three thrown by Avdalas and one by Hammond, who set up Hansberry and Tobi Lawal for roof-raising slams.

Hansberry would be the leading scorer with 19 by fighting to the cup and hitting a lone three. His 7-13 shooting night would also be representative of the Hokies’ 52% from the field and 41% from deep.

For the second game in a row, Virginia Tech had at least five players get into double-digit scoring with Hansberry (19), Avdals (14), Lawal (11), Hammond (11), Tyler Johnson (11) and Jaden Schutt (12), marking the first time since December 2024 that has occurred.

Game Notes
•Tech started Neoklis Avdalas, Jailen Bedford, Tobi Lawal, Tyler Johnson, and Amani Hansberry for the third straight game.
•Schutt buried four of his seven shots from beyond the arc.
•It was the first time VT has scored 90 or more in three consecutive games since November 2017.
•Ten Hokies made field goals, the first time that has occurred since Jan. 25, 2025.
•The Hokies scored 21 fast-break points, the second most in the Mike Young era.
