BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech diving head coach Ryan Hawkins announced the addition of Daniel Pinto to the squad as an assistant diving coach.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Daniel to our coaching staff,” Hawkins said. “His extensive experience as both a collegiate and international-level diver, combined with his technical coaching expertise from Arizona, will be a tremendous asset. He's not only going to challenge our athletes to reach new heights, but will also contribute to the future growth of our entire program. I’m excited for what's to come!”
Pinto brings three years of assistant coaching experience to the Hokies, most recently with the Arizona Wildcats. His coaching helped lead a diver to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors at NCAA Championships.
Prior to Arizona, Pinto was the head diving coach for the Alachua County School Board, and served as an assistant coach for the Gator Dive Club in Gainesville, Fla.
A skilled diver himself, Pinto spent five years on the Louisville diving team. While on the squad, he was named team captain, earned numerous ACC recognitions and was awarded the 2018 Underclassmen Unity Award for his vision of success for the team. On the world stage, he represented the Peru National Team from 2014 to 2023.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and work with phenomenal athletes and coaches,” Pinto said. “Go Hokies!"
Virginia Tech diving has posted 15 All-American Honors throughout program history and 14 Honorable Mention All-American Honors. During their time in the ACC, the Hokie divers have taken home 11 individual ACC medals.
