BLACKSBURG – The Hokies finished the season with a 0-0 draw to Miami at Thompson Field on Thursday.
How It Happened
The best chance in the opening 45 minutes came within the first three minutes of the game, as the Hokies fired three shots on goal in a row off a corner kick but failed to convert.
Tech ultimately outshot Miami 7-2 in the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net.
The Hokies continued to fight throughout the second 45 minutes and looked to get on the board in the 85th minute as Samantha DeGuzman drew a penalty. Natalie Mitchell stepped up to take the kick, hitting it off the bar on the initial attempt. Mitchell continued on the play, finishing for what looked to be a Hokies goal. It was called off as the ball did not touch another player before Mitchell made her second contact.
The match ended 0-0, as Tech outshot Miami 15-7 throughout the entirety of the match.
