BLACKSBURG – On the heels of the first of two open weeks in the 2025 campaign, Virginia Tech will play host to Cal on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Interim head coach Philip Montgomery and the Hokies (2-5, 1-2 ACC) will look to defeat a Golden Bears (5-2, 2-1 ACC) team that has yet to visit Lane Stadium since being inducted into the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2024. As interim head coach Philip Montgomery and company prepare for what promises to be an exciting Friday night matchup, here are Five Things to Know for a successful gameday experience in Blacksburg.
1. 25 Years of Sandman– Hokie Nation first started jumping along to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” 25 years ago, and the party hasn’t stopped since! Join thousands of Tech fans as we celebrate the most iconic entrance in college football under the lights this Friday evening!
2. Gameday Celebrations– A visit to Blacksburg on gameday isn’t complete without a visit to the Hokie Village. The can’t-miss fan fest will be open from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Friday and will feature inflatables, food trucks, live music from Jimmy Mowery, a College Football 26 gaming trailer and more.
3. Pregame Performances– Find your seats early to witness Team Fastrax, the professional skydiving team, jump into Lane Stadium, with a special surprise during their demonstration! Approximately 20 minutes prior to game time, enjoy a special Marching Virginians pregame show and stay in your seats as the Highty-Tighties take the field during halftime.
4. Single Game Parking Passes- Single-game parking passes for the remaining Virginia Tech football home games (Cal, Louisville and Miami) are on sale now. Claim your spot in Lot 8 or Lot 16 (both general admission) to get set for a full day of Hokie tailgating and football! Be sure to secure your pass early, as sales close at 5 p.m. ET the day before each game. More information on lot location and hours of availability can be found here.
Also, due to the game falling on a Friday night, please be aware that parking lots open to pass holders at 3 p.m. ET, which is when Beamer Way closes to traffic.
5. Phone Preparedness– Wi-Fi can become easily congested when so many members of Hokie Nation are in the same area. To avoid a weak signal in and around Lane Stadium on gameday, be sure to:
- Download your mobile tickets beforehand. Learn more about downloading tickets at the link.
- Download the HokieSports mobile app. Tickets can also be accessed through the app, so be sure to read up on how tickets can be accessed and how you can download the app.
-
- Bring your cards with you. Lane Stadium is a cashless venue and fully utilizes credit and debit cards both at concessions and, for the first time, in Hokie Shop.
