BERKELEY, Calif. – Tech dropped a highly competitive match to the Cal Golden Bears, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
The first half was a competitive 45 minutes, with neither team finding the back of the net. Cal broke through in the 50th minute with the only goal of the game.
Tech continued to attack throughout the second half, but ultimately failed to convert. In the final 13 minutes of play, Tech generated seven shots and forced two saves from the Cal goalkeeper.
Natalie Mitchell nearly converted off a direct free kick in the final three minutes, but her attempt was pushed over the bar. The Hokies outshot the Golden Bears 15-10 throughout the 90 minutes of play.
