BLACKSBURG – The No. 20 Hokies battled to a 3-3 draw with William & Mary on Sunday evening.

Three different goal scorers got on the board for Tech.

How It Happened
The first half was even throughout, with the Hokies having the slight advantage in shots with three compared to the Tribe’s two. The breakthrough came for Hannah Pachan in the 19th minute. Ella Valente sent a low-driven ball into the box from the endline, which was deflected out to the top of the 18-yard box. Pachan took the deflection, one-timed it, and placed it low into the bottom corner. The first half ended 1-0 for the Hokies.

The scoring exploded in the second half. William & Mary’s first goal came in the 58th minute, as Lauren Hargrove was picked off and William & Mary had an open net to finish. Exactly a minute later, Anna Weir found an answer for the Hokies. Madi Boutot collected the ball from a William & Mary clearance and found Valente at the top of the box. Valente fed Weir through the defense, who powered it past the keeper.

Five minutes later, William & Mary found another answer to the Hokies’ second goal to draw level. A miscleared ball gave the Tribe an open volley at the top of the box. Yet again, Tech found an answer in the 71st minute with Taylor Lewin scoring her first goal of the season. Ellie Robertson sent a high looping ball into the box for Lewin to head straight down the middle over the keeper. William & Mary responded for the final time in the 89th minute after a defensive breakdown for the Hokies.
