NORFOLK, Va. – No. 20 Tech fell 2-1 to Old Dominion on Thursday evening.
Freshman Ellie Robertson scored her first career goal in the fifth minute.
How It Happened
The Hokies started hot, with Robertson finding the back of the net off a long-range shot from the right side. Madi Boutot played a full-field switch from the nearside, and Ella Valente collected the ball at the endline. With limited options, Valente played the ball to Robertson, whose strike went over the goalkeeper and into the back corner of the goal.
Old Dominion responded six minutes later, as a ball was played through the Tech defense to set up the goal. In the 35th minute, the Monarchs found what held as the game-winning goal from a cross into the box.
The second half presented more chances for the Hokies, but nothing proved challenging for the Old Dominion goalkeeper.
