Five Things to Know: Virginia Tech vs. Wofford
From pregame to the final whistle, be prepared for gameday in Blacksburg
1. Salute to Service
The Hokies are proud to recognize public service heroes across all disciplines this weekend, including but not limited to military service members, law enforcement, firefighters and EMT specialists. Saturday’s contest is all about recognizing those who keep our families, friends, and communities safe – be sure to thank a member of public service in Lane Stadium this weekend.
2. White Effect
In honoring members of public service this weekend, the Hokies will wear white in support of our Salute to Service gameday theme. In partnership with Operation Hat Trick (OHT), “White Effect” is Virginia Tech Athletics’ way of thanking the thousands of selfless individuals who continue to keep Blacksburg, the state of Virginia, and the nation a safe place to live and work. Join in the celebration and get your hands on exclusive OHT Effect merchandise for this Saturday’s contest!
3. Hall of Fame Celebration
Seven gifted Virginia Tech student-athlete alumni will be recognized for their enshrinement into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame this weekend. Notable names include defensive back Kendal Fuller (football), point guard Erick Green (men’s basketball), and first base/catcher Courtney Liddle Barbour (softball). Stay in your seats during halftime to help celebrate these historic Hokies and their athletic achievements after the band show!
4. Fun for the whole family
The matchup against Wofford this weekend is also Fall Family Weekend at Virginia Tech! From Sept. 19-21, Hokie families will be able to connect with fellow classmates and alumni, participate in exclusive events, and engage in everything that Blacksburg has to offer.
