LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Virginia Tech fell to Louisville 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
How It Happened
The Hokies’ defense battled the Cardinals to a 0-0 first half, with Tech outshooting Louisville 4-1 through the first 45 minutes.
While the defensive battle continued, the Hokies’ best opportunity of the game came in the 77th minute. Natalie Mitchell passed the ball to Lily Pantaleo just outside the box, who then passed it back to a charging Mitchell who scored with a laser to the top corner of the net. After video review, Pantaleo was called offside, and it remained a scoreless contest.
Louisville converted in the 82nd minute to take the lead, a goal which proved to be the game winner.
