BLACKSBURG – No. 14 Virginia Tech (2-1-3, 0-1-1) falls 1-0 to Boston College (4-3-0, 1-1-0) on Sunday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just three minutes into the contest, Boston College managed to get the first look at the goal before the Hokies returned the favor in the sixth minute as Declan Quill forced the first save from the Eagles.

BC broke through in the 39th minute, gaining the 1-0 lead, after the officials went to VAR to award the Eagles a penalty kick. No. 14 Virginia Tech headed into the break with nine shots while limiting Boston College to three.

The Hokies applied offensive pressure to earn three corner kicks in a 45 second span (56’-57’), but saw their plays broken up by the Eagles. On the other end, Sam Joseph came up big in the 69th minute, stopping a dangerous direct shot on the near post before Joao Felicio blocked the rebound.

Tech, who received the favorable decision after a VAR, nearly found the equalizer from the penalty spot with four minutes left in the contest (86’) only to see the shot go wide.
