CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech’s Sam Joseph was named the ACC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Joseph, a senior from San Diego, Calif., totaled five saves while posting two clean sheets to help the Hokies to a 2-0 start to the season.
The 6-4 goalkeeper that transferred to Virginia Tech from UCLA ahead of the 2025 season leads the ACC in goals against average, having not conceded a goal thus far. Joseph is one of 18 players who have posted two shutouts this season.
The Hokies, who are looking for their third straight shutout, trek to preseason No. 2 Marshall on Friday (Aug. 29) for their second top three nationally ranked test of the season.
