BLACKSBURG – No. 15 Tech dominated Clemson, winning 4-0 on Thursday night behind two goals from Natalie Mitchell.

This marks the most goals the Hokies have ever scored against the Tigers. It is also the first shutout against Clemson since 2014.

How It Happened
Natalie Mitchell opened the scoring for the Hokies in the ninth minute after a perfectly placed cross from Hannah Pachan met her at the back post for an easy header past the keeper.

Despite the early goal, the first half was tightly contested with no team dominating on either side of the ball.

The second half was when the momentum started to swing in favor of the Hokies. In the 52nd minute, Mitchell found her second of the night after an Ava Arengo long ball split the Clemson backline, with Mitchell running on to it. She took one time to place it past the keeper and into the back of the net.

Anna Weir found her first goal of the season in the 72nd minute off a Mitchell assist. Mitchell split three Clemson defenders to feed Weir’s run into the box, who one-timed it into the far corner.

Just over a minute later, Eliana Salama found her second of the season and the Hokies’ fourth of the night as she picked up a misplaced pass on the Clemson backline. With excellent field vision, Salama saw the keeper off the line and chipped it up and over to finish off the scoring.
