Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team is eager to hit the pitch in 2025 as the student-athletes begin matriculating back to campus. Get to know the athletes who have joined the program since the fall season concluded with our summer introductory series.
Next up is midfielder Tiago Portela.
Portela, a midfielder from Braga, Portugal, will join Tech’s roster this fall. He previously played for his high school, Dona Maria II Secondary School. Fernandes then made the transition to professional soccer with play time with Merelinense F.C., A.D. Os Limianos, A.D. Sanjoanense, and as of most recently, Dumiense F.C.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Hokies’ season opening fixture against Ohio State on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at Thompson Field.
