CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Elevating its program record for the third consecutive season, the Virginia Tech baseball team celebrated 17 student-athlete selections to the 2025 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday.

Virginia Tech’s 17 placements this season furthered the trend of high academic and athletic achievement set by head coach John Szefc, who has witnessed the program’s record for honorees grow during recent years from 15 in 2023 and 16 in 2024. Against the ACC, the Hokies’ 17 mentions in 2025 ranked in a tie for the fourth most leaguewide, trailing Louisville (22), Georgia Tech (18) and Stanford (18) while matching Duke (17) and Pitt (17).

Considering Virginia Tech’s 2025 class, seven student-athletes became multi-year awardees. Graduate pitcher Grant Manning, graduate outfielder Ben Watson, redshirt-senior utility player Sam Tackett, junior catcher Henry Cooke, sophomore pitcher Preston Crowl, sophomore catcher David McCann and sophomore pitcher Brett Renfrow each collected their second career honors.

Behind Virginia Tech’s contingent of multi-year honorees, 10 Hokies were recognized for the first time, including seven upperclassmen: graduate outfielder Jackson Cherry, redshirt-junior pitcher Luke Jackman, junior pitcher Josh Berzonski, junior pitcher Luke Craytor, junior pitcher Mathieu Curtis, junior infielder/outfielder Jared Davis and junior infielder Clay Grady. Additionally, three true freshmen garnered praise during their first collegiate seasons: pitcher Marcel Kulik, infielder Hudson Lutterman and pitcher Jake Marciano.
