BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team’s fall slate was announced by head coach Mike Brizendine Friday morning with the Hokies set to take on some of the nation’s top teams, both within the friendly confines of Thompson Field and on the road.
Seven of the Hokies’ opponents competed in the 2024 NCAA Division I men’s soccer tournament, including overall number one seed Ohio State and national runner up Marshall.
The Hokies will open the season playing host to the Buckeyes on Thursday, Aug. 21 and turn around three days later to compete again at Thompson Field against Canisius.
Tech will close the opening month of the season with a trip to Marshall, a program that finished as national runners up in 2024 and hoisted their own championship banner in 2021.
September will feature three consecutive home games: against in-state rival Virginia, SoCon champs Furman and Boston College. The Hokies will then travel to Stanford for the inaugural meeting as ACC foes, and just the second matchup overall. The September slate closes on the 29th with a game at SoCon foe ETSU.
In October, Tech will take on Notre Dame (away), Louisville, North Carolina (away), Cal and Clemson (away) in conference action. Home matchups with Longwood (Oct. 7) and Winthrop (Oct. 22) complete the regular season slate.
In total, the Hokies will face nine opponents at home at Thompson Field.
