Hokies set to play host to Florida in 2025 ACC/SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference in conjunction with ESPN and the Southeastern Conference announced the matchups for the 2025 ACC/SEC Men's and Women's Basketball Challenges Thursday afternoon.

Megan Duffy and her Hokies will play host to the Florida Gators on Thursday, Dec. 4 with tip time and television designation to be announced later.

Virginia Tech and Florida have met four times before in women’s basketball with the Gators holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The teams last played in December of 2014 in Gainesville, a contest that the Gators won 73-44. In the only meeting at Cassell, the Hokies won a 71-59 game in November of 2013.

Last season the Hokies went to Georgia and secured a 70-61 victory, the program’s first in the Challenge. Tech was the only ACC team to win a road game in the 2024 edition of the Challenge that the SEC ultimately won.
