BLACKSBURG The format for the 2025 Virginia Tech football spring game, presented by PMSI, has been announced, featuring four quarters and modified scoring.

Subject to change based on weather, the health of the team or other circumstances, the contest will feature an offense versus defense structure. The offense will don Orange jerseys and the defense will wear White jerseys. Tech's offensive scoring will follow traditional scoring methods (6 points for a touchdown, 3 points for field goals, etc.), while the defense utilizes a modified scoring template. Read below for a breakdown of defensive scoring:

Touchdown – 7 points
Takeaway – 4 points
4th Down Stop – 3 points
3 & Out – 2 points
Safety – 2 points
Stop – 1 point
Sack / TFL – 1 point

2025 Virginia Tech Football Spring Game Format 

1st Quarter 15 Minutes (Traditional in-game clock stoppages will apply)
2nd Quarter 12 Minutes (Running Clock)
Halftime 15 Minutes
3rd Quarter 12 Minutes (Running Clock)
4th Quarter 12 Minutes (Running Clock)

The game will not have coverage on TV, similar to majority of ACC football programs, with a one-hour show featuring behind-the-scenes interviews throughout spring ball to be shown at a later date instead.
