CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Michelle Chatfield has been named ACC Player of the Week.
Chatfield was dominant at the plate in Tech’s series win at Cal. She finished the week with a team-high .700 batting average, three home runs, eight RBIs and a 1.600 slugging percentage. She also had a .750 on base percentage.
She hit two home runs – with one a grand slam – in the Hokies’ 11-3 run-rule victory over the Golden Bears on Friday and recorded six of the Hokies’ 11 RBIs.
The Lovettsville, Va., native also hit a home run in Tech’s 9-0 Saturday win. She hit .500 or better in all three games.
Chatfield accounted for eight of Tech’s 19 RBIs on the weekend as she aided the Hokies to their fifth ACC series win of the season.
