Tech falls in regular season finale to Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Hokies fall in the regular season finale 4-0 to the Cavaliers in the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield.

It was a tough day for Tech as they rounded off the regular season with a match-up with No. 7 Virginia in Charlottesville.

Virginia Tech dropped the doubles points with 6-3 losses on Court 1 and 2. Mila Mulready and Linda Ziets-Segura were tied 5-5 on Court 3 when the match was called.

In singles, Semra Aksu won her first set 6-3 but down 5-0 in the second set, and Laima Frosch was in the tiebreaker with Martina Genis Salas when the match was called.

The loss gives the Cavaliers one point in the Commonwealth Clash. The score for the Commonwealth Clash currently is 9-6 in favor of Virginia. For more information, visit hokiesports.com/commonwealth-clash.
