CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – In the Hokies’ last match of the regular season, they dropped to Virginia in the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield.

After dropping the doubles point with two 2-6 losses on Courts No. 1 and 2, the Hokies looked to rebound in singles. Though the Cavaliers clinched the match, winning on three straight singles courts, there were bright spots in the match for the Hokies.

Senior Alberto Orso closed out his regular season tenure as a Hokie with a win in the third set, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, putting the Hokies on the board. Freshman Victor Kimpel also notched a win, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The loss gives the Cavaliers one point in the Commonwealth Clash. This season’s Commonwealth Clash score is 10-6 in favor of Virginia. For more information, visit hokiesports.com/commonwealth-clash
