BLACKSBURG – Behind a three-run home run from Zoe Yaeger, the No. 12/16 Hokies (26-5, 6-1 ACC) defeated No. 13/16 Stanford (24-4, 8-2 ACC) 4-3 on Friday night at Tech Softball Park.

Emma Lemley earned her 12th win of the season. She struck out three batters in the Hokies’ first victory over the Cardinal.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 4, Stanford 3
Stanford got on the board first with a home run and an RBI single to left field in the top of the third, but the Hokies responded.

Jordan Lynch singled up the middle and Kylie Aldridge followed her with a walk, setting Zoe Yaeger up for a three-run bomb down the left field line that put Tech up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Hokies struck again in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on first and second, Annika Rohs drove in Lynch for an RBI off a groundout to shortstop.

The Cardinal threatened in the top of the seventh after a single to left field drove in a run and cut the deficit to 4-3. With the bases loaded, Emma Lemley returned to the game and Rohs snagged the final grounder and tagged the runner going from first to second to end the game.
