2021 graduate, Clay Best, is a Commercial Portfolio Manager at TowneBank, a commercial banking company in Virginia Beach. He earned his degree from Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business in May 2021. Beyond his professional career, Clay has a strong passion for Virginia Tech Athletics, the Washington Nationals, and Short Track Auto Racing.
Q: Why do you think it is important to give back to Virginia Tech Athletics?
CB: Supporting Virginia Tech Athletics helps student-athletes excel academically and athletically. It also strengthens the Hokie community and enhances the overall fan experience.
Q: Why did you decide to attend Virginia Tech?
CB: I chose Virginia Tech because of its incredible sense of community, strong academics, and school spirit. The energy on campus—especially around athletics—is unmatched.
Q: How has Virginia Tech Athletics impacted you?
CB: Even though I wasn’t a student-athlete, VT Athletics gave me some of my best college memories. It brought people together, created lasting traditions, and gave me a lifelong connection to the Hokie community.
Q: What is your favorite Virginia Tech sports memory?
CB: One of my favorite memories is the 2023 Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland. Anyone who was there will remember the relentless rain and dominating performance of the Hokies.
Q: Why would you encourage other Virginia Tech Recent Graduates to give?
CB: Giving back helps keep the Virginia Tech Athletics tradition strong. It ensures future students and fans experience the same excitement, camaraderie, and success that make Hokie sports so special.
