Hokies post notable numbers versus High Point

Two Hokies boast hat tricks and three collect five or more draw controls.

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech lacrosse fell to High Point on Sunday afternoon, 13-14.  The Hokies move to 7-5 (2-3 ACC) while the Panthers advance to 4-4 (0-0 Big South).

Leading scorers for Tech were Grace New and Molly Re, boasting a hat trick apiece.  It was the second hat trick of New's career and the first of Re's.  All three goals for Re came in the first half, while New's were spread between all four quarters.

Kamryn Henson boasted a standout day, collecting two goals, the game-high four ground balls, five draw controls and one caused turnover. 

Henson, Caroline Little and Sophia Trahan shared the wealth around the draw circle, with all three Hokies recording five or more draw controls.  Trahan led with eight, tacking onto her career-high 10 vs. No. 2 UNC for 18 this week, and Henson and Little both accumulated five.

The defensive lead for the Hokies was Jane Brewer, boasting the game-high of three caused turnovers, paired with three ground balls.   

In the cage, Aaliyah Jones recorded her fourth game this season with double-digit saves, stopping a total of 10 shots.  The contest was her second consecutive in double digits.

Virginia Tech totaled 13 goals, three assists, 14 ground balls, 19 draw controls and eight caused turnovers while out-pacing High Point in shots, draw controls and clears.
