Tech finds second win in three days over Radford

Five Hokies picked up sweeps in singles to secure the victory over the Highlanders.

RADFORD, Va. – The Hokies pick up another win with a 6-1 victory over the Radford Highlanders.

In their final match of a five-match away stretch, Virginia Tech found their second win decisively over Radford on Friday afternoon.

Tech grabbed the doubles point in convincing fashion. Charlotte Cartledge and Linda Ziets-Segura teamed up on Court 3 for a 6-0 win over Brooke Murphy and Michaela Stephens. Semra Aksu and Mila Mulready got the clinching win as they defeated Natalie Reimer and Rachel Ekanem 6-1.

In singles, five Hokies found sweeps. Mulready had the first of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 5 over Reimer. Laima Frosch and Cartledge both won 6-0, 6-2 over their respective opponents to secure the victory. Aksu was also a part of the fun with a 6-1, 6-2 win to defeat Julia Abrams. Arina Gamretkaia rounded off the day with a 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Lexi Smolder.
