Virginia Tech women’s soccer adds transfer signee Eliana Salama for the 2025 season. Salama, a native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., joins the Hokies after three years at SMU. She led the team in goals with ten in 2024 and was named to the AAC Championship All-Tournament Team as a sophomore.
“We’re excited to add Eliana to our program,” Head coach Chugger Adair said. “We think she is going to be a wonderful addition. She’s got proven offensive ability, she can score and create goals and has a flair for the attack. We love her charisma in training and we’re looking forward to her ability to impact our team.”
Why did you choose Tech? After playing them in the fall, I knew the team was hard-working and competitive. The coaching staff made me feel right at home and emphasized that this is a winning team with a gritty mentality. Being at Tech will allow me to accomplish my goals.
What was your favorite thing about your visit? I never went on a visit, I transferred from SMU and was able to play Tech last fall. At the time, I didn’t know that I would end up here but I was really impressed with their play and the exciting environment the team and fans created during the game.
What are your soccer strengths? My soccer strengths are my dribbling and technical ability.
Who is your favorite pro player and why? Messi because my family is Argentinian so it’s in our blood to worship the man. He is the GOAT.
What is your most memorable soccer moment? My first collegiate goal during my sophomore year against Tennessee. It was a game-winner in the last couple minutes and my parents had surprised me that weekend to come watch my game. It was a great feeling to score in front of them and win a game for my team.
What do you think you will major in? Multimedia Journalism or Sports Media and Analytics
What's one thing you'd want Tech fans to know about you? Although my Instagram handle is @elianasalami, my last name is not Salami. It's Salama, but I do love salami.
