BLACKSBURG – The Hokies’ winning streak ends at nine with a 4-1 loss to Georgia Tech.

Tech started strong, clinching the doubles point in dramatic fashion. No. 51 Charlotte Cartledge and Özlem Uslu got the Hokies out to a hot start with a 6-2 win over Scarlett Nicholson and Kylie Bilchev from Georgia Tech. The duo was down 2-1 early and won five straight points to take the match.

Arina Gamretkaia and Tara Gorinsek clinched the doubles point for Tech as they took down No. 84 Alejandra Cruz and Given Roach of Georgia Tech 7-5.

In singles, Arina Gamretkaia battled in a three-set match before ultimately falling to Taly Licht, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to give the Yellow Jackets the clinching win.

Matches for Uslu and Laima Frosch were abandoned in the third set.
