Hokies sweep doubleheader Saturday, bringing home their third-straight

Tech had their slate filled Saturday -- and they executed.

BLACKSBURG – Tech kicked the morning off with a win against Georgetown, then closed out the evening with a shutout victory against St. Bonaventure.

In the morning match, the Hokies secured a 5-2 defeat over Georgetown. Though the squad dropped the doubles point, they worked their way back to a win.

In singles, Hokies won on five courts, with Alberto Orso securing the clinching match 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

Later in the evening, Tech defeated St. Bonaventure in a 7-0 blowout win. The Hokies swifty earned the doubles point. Victor Kimpel and Scott Sculley combined to win 6-0. Ilyas Fahim and Eyal Shumilov walked away with a 6-1 triumph.

All six singles matches were won in straight sets, Kimpel notching the clinching victory, 6-1, 6-3.

The Hokies look to keep the momentum rolling Sunday evening when they take on Davidson at 4 p.m. in Blacksburg.
