BLACKSBURG – The Hokies picked up their third win of the season with a clean-sheet 4-0 win over Indiana.
Tech was successful in clinching the doubles point yet again. No. 62 ranked Charlotte Cartledge and Özlem Uslu competed on Court 1 for the Hokies today, while Semra Aksu and Tara Gorinsek were on Court 2, a flip from earlier in the season. The two doubles pairs were still highly successful as Aksu/Gorinsek picked up a 6-2 win, and Cartledge/Uslu clinched for the Hokies with a 6-3 win.
In singles, Tech swept the board with three straight-set wins. No. 124 Laima Frosch got the Hokies out to a hot start with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Magdalena Swierczynska. No. 21 Uslu kept up the energy as she swept Nicole Teodosescu 6-2, 6-1. Gorinsek once again provided the clinching win for the Hokies with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Nicole Sifuentes.
Aksu, Arina Gamretkaia, and Cartledge were all battling in the second set when Gorinsek clinched, ending the matches for the three of them before they could attempt to come back.
