BLACKSBURG – In a tied match down to its final court, Patrik Jurina sealed the deal on the Hokies’ victory, as Tech resurged from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Princeton 4-3.
Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center quickly erupted in excitement after Jurina took home a victory in the tiebreaker of a three-set, electrifying match. After securing the match by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (5), Jurina’s teammates rushed over to celebrate the long-awaited win.
Midway through the match, the Hokies sat at a score of 3-1, but with the efforts of Alberto Orso, Victor Kimpel, and Jurina, Tech climbed back to a win.
Orso claimed a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory to make the score 3-2. Not long after, Kimpel battled to a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph to tie the match. Then, all eyes on Jurina, he delivered.
Ilyas Fahim contributed to the Hokie’s success as well, with a straight-set 6-0, 6-3 win.
The Hokies are back in action in the morning for a match up against Georgetown at 9:30 a.m.
