Virginia Tech softball to make fifth straight NCAA appearance

BLACKSBURG – The No. 15 Virginia Tech softball team secured its fifth straight NCAA postseason appearance, earning a No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles Regional, as announced on ESPN2 Sunday evening.

The Hokies (39-12-1) will begin their 2024 NCAA Softball Championship journey on Friday, May 17 against San Diego State (31-18) in Los Angeles. First pitch is schedule for 6 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
 
No. 6 overall UCLA will host Grand Canyon in the other half of the regional bracket on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. ET.
 
HOKIES vs. TOURNAMENT FIELD
The double-elimination regional will conclude on Sunday, May 19 and the winner of the 2024 Los Angeles Regional will match up with the winner of the Athens Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 24-26. The winner of the Super Regional round will advance to the Women's College World Series, taking place in Oklahoma City from Thursday, May 30 to Friday, June 7.
 
Under head coach Pete D'Amour's leadership, Tech owns an 11-5 record in regional play and is 23-20 all-time.

Tech is familiar with playing on UCLA's campus, with last playing there in 2021 during Super Regionals.
