CLEMSON, S.C. - The Virginia Tech track & field sprints group opened theiir 2024-2045 indoor competition slate on Friday at the Clemson Opener, hosted by Clemson.
Judson Lincoln IV, Kahleje Tillmon, Caitlyn Bobb, Tomas Kersulis, Janiya Johnson and Micayla Collins were the six Hokies representing VT at the meet. Collins, Kersulis, Bobb and Johnson each doned the maroon and orange for the first time.
Judson Lincoln, in his third year with the program, boasted a top-ten program time with his 32.37 finish, just .09 off of the current program record held by Jacory Patterson. His result topped his previous career-best in the event and replaced his second-place slot in the program's top-10 performances list of 32.60. Previously 11th in the NCAA 300m records, Lincoln now skyrockets to fourth all-time for the 300m.
Both Micayla Collins and Janiya Johnson pumped out stellar freshmen debuts, with a 7.48 result in the 60m finals for Johnson with a third-place finish and a 16th place finish for Collins in the 300m with a 40.35.
