ATHENS, GA. - Trailing by seven after three quarters, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team tightened up on the defensive end and capitalized on their opportunities to come back and defeat Georgia 70-61 in the 2024 edition of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
The win, Tech's first on the road of the season, takes the Hokies to 7-2 on the season. Georgia fell to 5-5.
Lani White scored a season-high 14 points, making three 3-point field goals along the way, each seeming more crucial than the next to propel the Hokies to victory.
She was joined in double figures by Carys Baker (14, the first time in her career she has strung together three consecutive double figure scoring games), Rose Micheaux (13) and Matilda Ekh (14).
Tech jumps into ACC play on Sunday, Dec. 8 when they travel to No. 8 Duke for a 4 p.m. tip on ACC Network.
