Student Hokie Club Member, Samantha Corduan, enjoys supporting Virginia Tech Athletics, especially the teams who take the hardwood. This 2025 graduate shared some of her favorite things about cheering on the Hokies:
Q: Major?
SC: Crop and Soil Science
Q: Where are you from?
SC: Edenton, North Carolina
Q: Favorite part about going to VT Athletic events?
SC: The atmosphere – there is truly no place like Home! I’ve been to a few away games for different sports, but no one shows up and cheers for their team the way Hokies do. Hokie Nation is special because of the fans that consistently show up to support the teams.
Q: Favorite Virginia Tech tradition?
SC: Touching the game ball during Homecoming week!
Q: Which Virginia Tech team do you follow the most and why?
SC: I try to keep up with all sports teams, but I follow our basketball teams the most. I’ve always loved basketball, and I'm excited to see what the players and coaches have in store for us for this season.
Q: Favorite past or current Hokie athlete?
SC: Former Men’s basketball player, Justyn Mutts. He kept a good attitude on and off the court and really interacted with the audience. It was evident he was uplifting towards his teammates, and he embodied what it means to be a Hokie.
Q: What’s your favorite Virginia Tech sports moment or game?
SC: Watching our Men’s basketball team beat UVA on February 14th, 2022. A rivalry game is always fun, but this was also the first time I attended a basketball game in Cassell, and that was the night I knew Cassell would hold a special place in my heart.
