Tech Playmakers

Three Sacks and Amigos
Defensive end Antwaun Powell-Ryland has been an absolute menace off the edge for the Hokies' defense this season. The redshirt senior quickly amassed three sacks against Virginia on Saturday night, collecting his first sack six minutes into the game. APR has effectively lived up to his appointed nickname, the 'Mayor of Sacksburg,' collecting 16 sacks in the regular season. The Portsmouth, Virginia product is currently tied for second in the nation for sacks and is one of only three players with 16 or more sacks.

You Darn Tuten
The ground game has been a significant factor in the offensive production for head coach Brent Pry and company. Running back Bhayshul Tuten once again showed why he is a bell-cow back, topping the century mark in another contest. The Paulsboro, New Jersey native totaled 126 rushing yards on 18 carries, good for 6.9 yards per carry. Tuten also added to his impressive season totals, finishing the regular season with 1,159 yards on the ground, marking the first 1,000-yard rusher since 2020. Khalil Herbert last achieved the feat with 1,182 yards and eight scores.

Deep Threat Vets
Watson had no problem showcasing his arm talent and ball placement against the Hoos. Veteran wide receivers Jaylin Lane, Da'Quan Felton and Ali Jennings each benefitted from his aerial confidence. Lane led the Hokies in receptions (4) and receiving yards (91) on the night. The versatile wideout's biggest play came on a 66-yard deep ball touchdown in the second quarter. Felton was a big factor in setting the tone early, corralling back-to-back passes in the game's opening drive, one a 42-yard strike over the middle. The second of his receptions helped set up the team's first touchdown of the game. Jennings also got in on the deep ball action with a 40-yarder in the Hokies' final scoring drive of the first half.
