Get ready for gameday with five things to know for the Hokies' clash with the Tigers.
1. Stripe Effect
This Saturday's contest will serve as the Hokies' Stripe Effect game, and fans are encouraged to wear either maroon or orange depending on which section they sit in to look the part. Click here to see which color you should wear.
Both the official Undergraduate Student Senate (USS) Maroon and Orange Effect T-shirts are available to purchase at bookstore locations, including the Hokie Shop’s trailer in Lot 4.
2. Hokies for the Hungry
The Marching Virginians are proud to be hosting the 27th Hokies for the Hungry canned food drive. For the past few years, The Marching Virginians have worked with New Life Christian Fellowship and the Blacksburg community to collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Montgomery County Christmas Store, with canned soups and canned pastas being preferred.
The Marching Virginians have donated not only canned goods but monetary donations as well to the store. Each year, the band splits into groups and travels to different tailgating locations to perform for fans. In exchange, tailgaters donate money and food for their choice of song. The more money donated, the more likely you are to hear the Hokie Pokie with a performance from our Super Sousaphone section.
The band is also taking monetary donations until Friday. Fans can support the canned food drive by making a donation to the @SpiritOfTech Venmo account.
3. Enjoy the Pregame Festivities
There is a lot happening in Blacksburg on Saturday, and we want you to be equipped to partake in it all.
Hokie Village
Located on the turf soccer/lacrosse practice field off Beamer Way, the complimentary fan fest area opens at noon and closes at 2:45 p.m. Fans can enjoy food trucks and drinks available for purchase. Free activities include inflatables, a balloon artist, face painting, live music by Jimmy Mowery and autograph signings from the women’s tennis team.
Hokie Walk
Hokie Nation will be able to welcome the Hokies as they arrive at Lane Stadium. The buses will arrive on Beamer Way outside of Lane Stadium at approximately 12:55 p.m.
Pregame Parachuting
The U.S. Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights, is a combination of expert teams and soldiers brought together by their love of skydiving. This includes parachute teams, aircraft pilots and those who handle jump logistics behind the scenes. They will be conducting their parachuting into Lane Stadium moments before kickoff, so be sure to be in your seat for this exciting endeavor.
4. Parking Lots Info
Football parking (click to view info/map) and tailgating on gameday is a valued commodity, and it becomes extremely significant as we welcome the entire Virginia Tech community to campus. Therefore, to ensure that each game day guest has a positive and safe tailgating experience, fans should adhere to these parking rules.
Please ensure your vehicle is parked within the designated spaces and be mindful of not lingering in the roadways, as this can lead to congestion and safety risks for both vehicles and pedestrians. Your cooperation is key to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans. Click here to learn more about postgame traffic patterns.
5. Your Phone Being Prepared is Crucial
Be sure to download your mobile ticket to your wallet before you arrive at the stadium. This eliminates the variable of not having strong Wi-Fi around the stadium and not being able to download it. Click here for more information on downloading mobile tickets.
Fans can download their tickets through the HokieSports mobile app. Click here to download the HokieSports mobile app.
Lane Stadium is a mobile-first and cashless venue when it comes to ticketing and concessions. Once inside, only a credit or debit card will be accepted at the concession stands for those wanting to purchase food and drink. There will be a limited number of pre-paid cards available for purchase with cash at the Hokie Shop trailer in Lot 4 outside of Lane Stadium.
Have tickets and can't make the game? Mobile tickets can be easily transferred to peers or can also be listed with peace of mind on SeatGeek.
