Looking back at Alumni Weekend 2024

On the weekend of November 8-10, over 50 Virginia Tech lacrosse alumni flocked to Blacksburg to commemorate the program. At the top of the list of celebrations, the Hokies honored the 1999 Atlantic 10 champions during their 25th anniversary year.

The first activity of the weekend was Virginia Tech's annual alumni game. Past players faced off against current student-athletes on the practice field. It's safe to say that some of the alums still have it!

On Friday evening, everyone gathered inside the Graduate Life Center for a night of celebrating all the contributions to the program by past players and staff.

Senior defender Elizabeth Labbe spoke of the teams pillars and values before Brooke Martin Ireland, Sue Cowperthwait Guyon and Chris Halfpenny (Mastro) recognized the accomplishments of the 1999 team.

At the end of the night, head coach Kristen Skiera presented the 1999 team with commemorative jackets.

Before the Hokies headed into Lane Stadium for Tech's game against Clemson, Coach Skiera hosted brunch at her house. The primary goal of the event was to offer a chance for current student-athletes to network with alumni. This hammered home the weekend's overarching message that becoming a Hokie isn't just a four-year commitment, but a lifelong bond.
