SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a hard-fought game in JMA Wireless Dome, Virginia Tech football met the media following its 38-31 loss to Syracuse. Head coach Brent Pry spoke at the podium to discuss the contest, followed by student-athletes Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Malachi Thomas. Read and watch below to see what they had to say:

Head coach Brent Pry

On needing to win close games:
"Yeah, I think it's a great point. That's kind of where we are. I've got to do better. We've got to play better. The really good teams, that's part of it. You get over the hump, you learn how to win those close games. We got to do a better job there. And when we do, you certainly, you like your win total a little bit better. I mean, it's not horseshoes, it's not good enough to be close. We got to get over the hump, find ways to win games at the end."

Defensive End Antwaun Powell-Ryland

On the defensive effort in the second half:
"Yeah, you know we talked about finishing. That's the most important job right there. So, not being able to go out there and continue what we did in the first half, you know, it hurts. We were stopping them but it has to be all four quarters."

Running Back Malachi Thomas

On his and Jeremiah Coney's ability to run the ball effectively:
"I'll say, you know, the O-Line, they were doing very well. Just getting a hat on a hat, we were just getting downhill and just breaking tackles. And we're just seeing the holes very well."
