Jacksonville, Fla. – Four Hokies are down South for the UNF Invite from Friday, Nov. 1 to Sunday, Nov. 3.
DAY 3 -
Mulready found her second win of the weekend, defeating Furman’s Eleanor Schulson in three sets in the Flight A West Final. She was down 0-6 after the first set and returned, scoring 6-4, 7-5 in the final two sets.
Mendoza also picked up a win on Sunday, with a straight-set 6-1, 6-3 win over South Florida’s Gargi Pawar.
Ziets-Segura had to retire in the first set due to injury. Tepes fell in three sets to North Florida’s Alisa Lyshko 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
DAY 2 -
Mulready and Tepes helped Tech find two singles wins on Saturday morning. Mulready picked up a straight-set win over UNC Charlotte’s Ni Xi 6-3, 6-3 in Flight A West. Tepes is playing in Flight F and found a 6-4, 6-2 win over Southern Mississippi’s Gagana Mohan Kumar.
Ziets-Segura and Mulready picked up a doubles win in the Extra Matches draw of the invite. The two defeated Southern Mississippi’s Hannah Chambers and Angelina Blinova 6-3.
Ziets-Segura and Mendoza both played singles matches but were unable to find wins.
DAY 1 -
Linda Ziets-Segura started the Hokies with a win in Flight C East, defeating UNC Charlotte’s Anslee Long 6-3, 6-3.
Samie Tepes, Mila Mulready, and Elizabeth Mendoza are also competing in Jacksonville. Tepes and Mulready both played yesterday and were unable to find wins. Mendoza had a first-round bye in her flight of singles.
Ziets-Segura/Mulready and Tepes/Mendoza are the two doubles pairing for Tech this weekend. Neither pair was able to find a win on day 1.
