BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's basketball head coach Mike Young announced Wednesday the Hokies’ Class of 2025 featuring Christian Gurdak and Sin’Cere Jones.

High School: Played his first two seasons at Paul VI where he was teammates with current Hokie Ben Hammond … All-WCAC honorable mention as a freshman and a second-team honoree as a junior ... Member of the GEICO National Championship all-tournament team as a sophomore … Coached by Jamill Jones and Antoine Gaither while playing on the EYBL circuit with Team Takeover … Competed five years with Team Takeover, advancing to the Final Four of the 17u Peach Jam in 2024 and winning the 16u Peach Jam in 2022 ... Second-team All-Peach Jam selection in 2024 ... Consensus four-star recruit … Rated the 91st-best prospect in the 2025 class on 247Sports … Recognized as the 14th-best player at his position nationally, according to 247Sports … Chose Tech over Notre Dame, Penn State, Clemson, Louisville and Butler.

Coach Young on Gurdak: Christian brings an incredible blend of size, skill and work ethic to our program. He was a priority for us very early in the recruiting process. Christian is battle-tested from his experience in the WCAC and on the AAU circuit with Team Takeover. He’s exactly what we need to strengthen our frontcourt, and his physicality will give us an edge on both ends of the floor. We’re thrilled to welcome Christian to the Hokie family and look forward to the impact he'll make in our system.

Averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game as a junior … Consensus three-star recruit … Rated the 142nd-best prospect in the 2025 class on 247Sports … Recognized as the ninth-best player in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the 29th-best at his position nationally, according to 247Sports … Chose Tech over VCU, Old Dominion, Mississippi State and Wake Forest. 
 
Personal: Sin’Cere Jones … Born in Portsmouth, Virginia … Son of Ernesha Williams and Cedric Jones, who both played basketball … Has three siblings: Cameron, Taliah and Ne’Vaeh Honor roll student ... Plans on majoring in exercise and health sciences … Career objective is to play in the NBA. 
 
Coach Young on Jones: Sin’Cere is a flat-out competitor with a nose for the ball. He continues to develop the right way with his experience at Churchland and Boo Williams. Sin’Cere is just scratching the surface of what he can become. His versatility will impact both ends of the court for us. Sin’Cere is a promising young man, and we’re thrilled he’s a part of our Hokie family. 
 
Tech returns to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET against Big Ten foe Penn State in the Hall of Fame Series Baltimore. The game will be televised by Peacock from CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Md.
