Tech earns the No. 5 seed in the ACC Women’s Championship

BLACKSBURG – No. 12 Virginia Tech fell 1-0 to Virginia on Thursday night at Thompson Field.

The Hokies finish the ACC slate at 6-2-2 – good for 20 points and the No. 5 seed in the ACC Women’s Championship. The No. 5 seed marks the best finish in ACC play for the Hokies since 2013.

Tech’s 11 wins are the most in a regular season since 2021.

How it Happened
Virginia controlled the game early and delivered the game-winning goal in the 12th minute. Despite trailing, the Hokies came out firing in the second half.

Natalie Mitchell had one of the best looks for the Hokies when she beat the goalkeeper to the ball and found herself with an open net, but her shot went just high. Taylor Price also had a great opportunity as her header in the 68th minute went wide left.

The Hokies outshot the Cavaliers 9-7 in the second half but were unable to find the equalizer.
