Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech scored three goals in the final 11 minutes to complete the 3-2 comeback win over No. 6 Florida State on Sunday afternoon at Thompson Field.
Sarah Rosenbaum and Kylie Marschall struck in the 80th and 85th minute, respectively, before Taylor Price scored the game winner in the 87th minute.
It marks the first time Virginia Tech has beaten Florida State in program history.
How it Happened
Despite Florida State scoring twice in the second half, the Hokies’ offense came to live in the final 11 minutes of the contest.
Sarah Rosenbaum struck first for the Hokies on a header to cut the Seminole lead to 2-1. It was her second goal of the season and the first of three goals in the comeback.

Just five minutes later, Kylie Marschall capitalized on a beautiful pass from Eden Skyers and headed it in for the equalizer in the 85th minute.

With momentum entirely with the Hokies, Natalie Mitchell delivered a perfect header pass to Taylor Price who shot on a rocket through the right side of the goal in the 87th minute to complete the comeback.

It marks the first time since winning 3-2 over James Madison on Sept. 17, 2010, that Tech has come back after trailing 2-0.
Contrary to the five goals scored in the second half, the first half was a defensive battle with a 0-0 score through the first 45 minutes. Florida State scored in the 50th and 67th minutes before the Hokies came back to win.

• Tech defeated Florida State for the first time in program history.
• This is the first time Tech has defeated the reigning NCAA National Champions since 2009. The Hokies defeated North Carolina, 1-0, after the Tarheels claimed the 2008 crown.
• This is Tech’s first Top 10 win since defeating No. 2 North Carolina, 2-1, on Oct. 1, 2022.
• The win is the first victory after trailing 2-0 since Sept. 17, 2010, when Tech defeated James Madison, 3-2.
• Tech improves to 4-1-1 in the ACC – its best start to conference play through six games since 2013.
• Tech is currently tied for second in the ACC standings with 13 points.
