BLACKSBURG – Following a strong showcase in California against Stanford, head coach Brent Pry spoke with the media after Virginia Tech's 31-7 victory on Saturday. Pry was accompanied by defensive coordinator Chris Marve and wide receiver Da'Quan Felton at the podium following the win. Read and watch below to see what they had to say:

Head Coach Brent Pry

Opening Statement:
"Obviously, a great effort by our team and our coaches today. Complimentary ball to me, and that's who we need to be. Offense, defense, special teams, well-rounded effort. Against a good team at their place after a tough loss. I asked the guys, we need to prove to the team who we are. Who we can be as a team. And I thought we took a big step that way today."

On the big defensive plays to start the game:
"Yeah, I thought they had a really good plan. They want to play keep away a little bit. Run it and play action and control the clock and keep it close, and they did that. But we were able to have enough firepower offensively, Da'Quan Felton's play. And honestly, you go back to the first half, the 13-play, seven minute drive. Very proud of our efforts there, and it was certainly impactful in the tone of the game."

Defensive Coordinator Chris Marve

On entering the bye week with a win:
"Yeah, for us, it's about improving every single day, right? Incremental improvement. Nothing happens overnight. We've been working tremendously hard. And I think today, ending up in the win column, holding them to seven points, as a coach, it's really good to see the kids and the fruits of their labor, man. That's what it's all about because they have worked. They've played extremely hard. I mean, you cut on the tape, these kids, they're flying around. They're playing hard for their brothers. They're doing what we're coaching them to do. And so for them today to pull it all together and have an outfit like this on the West Coast, really proud of them. But again, after 24 hours, this is done. And it's about incremental improvement again. And how can we be better tomorrow than we were today? So the bye week comes. It's just the next week. It was about us improving."

Wide Receiver Da'Quan Felton

On Jaylin Lane's playmaking ability:
"Jaylin Lane is dynamic, Jay Lane's a dog, that's my brother. Every day, we joke about who the better player is, but at the end of the day, 83 is a dog."
