Tech spends the weekend at Hall of Fame Invite

Four Hokies are in Williamsburg competing over three days.

DAY 3 -

Williamsburg, Va. - Gamretkaia went undefeated this weekend as she picked up a third singles win on Sunday.

Gamretkaia defeated ECU’s Joan Madi in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Gamretkaia and Gorinsek teamed up for the second day in a row but were unable to find a win against ECU’s pairing of Bachir and Jeromin, falling 7-5. Gorinsek fell in three sets to ECU’s Bachir 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6), 1-6.

Cartledge and Hegarty played an exhibition doubles match against William & Mary but were unable to come away with a win, falling 6-4. 

DAY 2 - 

Williamsburg, Va. - Two of the newest Hokies pick up wins on the second day of competition. 

Gorinsek and Gamretkaia paired up together to take down William & Mary’s Fernald/Kernagis, 6-2. 

Gorinsek and Gamretkaia both picked up singles wins as well. Gorinsek defeated William & Mary’s Hedda Gurholt 7-5, 6-2 on Court 1. Gamretkaia found her win on Court 3, over William & Mary’s Ine Stange 7-6 (2), 6-7 (6), 7-5. 

Cartledge and Hegarty played together in doubles, and each played a match of singles.

DAY 1 -

Williamsburg, Va. - Four Hokies are in Williamsburg, competing at the Hall of Fame Hidden Dual Invite. 

Virginia Tech Women’s Tennis went undefeated on day one of the invite with both doubles teams and all four players picking up wins. 

Charlotte Cartledge and Tara Gorinsek teamed up for the first time to defeat Davidson’s duo of Hammond/Calderwood, 7-5. Similarly, Michaela Hegarty and Arina Gamretkaia partnered for the first time to take down Davidson’s pairing of Roti/Patel, 6-3. 

In singles, both Gorinsek and Gamretkaia picked up their first wins as Hokies. Gorinsek defeated Livy Hooper of Davidson, 6-2, 6-2, and Gamretkaia took down Davidson’s Ellie Hammond in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. 

Cartledge and Hegarty both picked up sweeps. Cartledge defeated Linden Patternson of Davidson 6-0, 6-1, and Hegarty won 6-1, 6-4 over Davidson’s Lilly Dwyer.
