BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men’s soccer is gearing up for its final showdown of the regular season, hosting No. 2 Clemson under the lights at Thompson Field. The Hokies carry a 7-5-3 record into the matchup, with five of those wins secured at home. Set for Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. ET, this Halloweekend clash offers the perfect stage for the Hokies to close out their campaign. Several exciting promotions are lined up, adding even more buzz to this high-stakes matchup. Here are five reasons you won’t want to miss the Hokies' clash with the Tigers.

1. Halloweekend. Don’t miss the Halloween-themed fun at Thompson Field! Families can enjoy trick-or-treating around the stadium, and young fans are invited to show off their best costumes in our Kids' Costume Contest. It's the perfect way to kick off your weekend with some festive fun and Hokie spirit.

2. Black Out. Embrace the Halloween spirit and be part of the Black Out at Thompson Field! Fans are encouraged to wear black and help create an intimidating atmosphere as the Hokies take on Clemson. Let’s pack the stands, black out the stadium, and make some noise.

3. One Final Showdown at Thompson Field. Friday is your last regular season opportunity to witness the 2024 Hokies in action as they battle No. 2 Clemson in an exhilarating matchup. Come out and support the team as they look to make a statement in their final home game of the season. Experience the electrifying atmosphere, connect with fellow fans and cheer the Hokies on one last time under the Friday night lights.

4. In-Conference Clash. This clash marks the final ACC matchup of the season, as the Hokies and Tigers meet for the 19th time in their series history. Historically, Virginia Tech has fared well against Clemson at home, boasting two wins and three ties. This matchup also marks the first time the two teams will face off at Thompson Field since 2021, making it a rare opportunity you won't want to miss. Come support the Hokies as they look to add to their home legacy against a top-ranked opponent!

5. Key Players to Watch. Keep an eye on standout players like sophomore forward Oliver Roche, who is one of the Hokies' leading goal scorers, coming off a strong performance against Davidson with two goals. Ethan Hackenberg, a senior forward, has contributed significantly with five goals this season and he provided an assist to Roche last game. Cooper Wenzel has been a reliable presence in the net, having conceded only one goal against No. 10 Duke recently and boasting a 0.736 save percentage. His strong defensive skills and ability to make crucial saves will be vital in keeping the Tigers at bay during the match.
