RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 19 Virginia Tech battled to a 0-0 draw at NC State on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Field.
Tech earned its ninth shutout of the season with the tie.
How it Happened
The first half was a defensive battle between both sides. The best look of the opening frame for the Hokies came in the 28th minute when Taylor Price headed a cross from Sarah Rosenbaum, but the Wolfpack goalkeeper made a diving save.
Tech’s offense created momentum in the second half as the squad tallied six corner kicks. Natalie Mitchell had a stellar shot from just outside the 18-yard-box to take the lead in the 78th minute but missed just high.
The Hokies tallied back-to-back corner kicks in the 83rd minute but were unable to find the back of the net.
Tech has nine shutouts on the season and have held opponents to one or fewer goals in 13 of 16 games.
