CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech running back, Bhayshul Tuten, offensive lineman, Xavier Chaplin, and defensive lineman, Antwaun Powell-Ryland have earned ACC Player of the Week honors for their efforts in Thursday night's 42-21 win over Boston College.
Tuten (5-11, 209) tallied a career-high 266 rushing yards, setting the school’s single-game rushing record. The Paulsboro, New Jersey product's record-setting performance came on just 18 carries, a 14.8-yard average, tops among any player in program history who cleared 200 yards in a game.
The senior recorded three rushing touchdowns and a 20-yard reception for another score, finishing the game with 286 all-purpose yards. He has now scored a TD in nine straight games dating back to last season.
It marked his first career game with four touchdowns. Tuten is one of seven Virginia Tech players to have at least four TDs in a game. Lee Suggs is the only player with five.
