BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football has previously hosted ESPN’s popular College GameDay on six different occasions. Now the school will host ESPN’s afternoon edition of SportsCenter with co-host Matt Barrie live from Virginia Tech’s campus on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Thursday's program will originate from the Quillen Spirit Plaza outside Dietrick Hall in the area facing Washington Street, with the public invited to gather for the show. The show will air from 2 to 3 p.m. ahead of the Hokies’ 7:30 p.m. kick against Boston College on ESPN.

SportsCenter, ESPN's flagship program, is a daily sports news television program offering breaking news, highlights, features and in-depth analysis from award-winning journalists, with multiple live editions airing daily.

Barrie, who co-hosts the 2 p.m. (ET) weekday editions of SportsCenter, will also provide the play-by-play call for the Thursday night Atlantic Coast Conference football game between the Hokies and the Eagles, alongside color analyst Dan Mullen.

Guests are allowed to view the show from the Spirit Plaza and are asked not to gather prior to 1:30 p.m. Anyone planning to attend should review campus parking policies in place for Thursday’s game linked here: Parking Guide and Map

Virginia Tech hosted College GameDay twice in both 1999 and 2005, as well as appearances in 2007 and 2017. The university also welcomed live ESPN pregame shows ahead of the season openers against Georgia Tech in 2000, and Ohio State in 2015.

Virginia Tech is 3-3 overall, 1-1 in the ACC entering Thursday’s contest, while Boston College is 4-2 overall, 1-1 in league play.
