Hokie ClubCHARLOTTE, N.C. - Virginia Tech kicker John Love has been named the ACC Specialist of the Week for his efforts Friday night against Miami.
Love (5-11, 180) connected on a career-long 57-yard field goal late in the first half. It was the third longest kick in school history.
The redshirt sophomore later hit a 52-yard kick in the third quarter, becoming the first Virginia Tech kicker to make two or more field goals from 51 yards or longer during the same game since Dave Strock against Southern Miss in 1972.
The Spartanburg, South Carolina native also connected on all four of his extra point attempts against the Hurricanes.
Love has now made eight of his nine field goals on the season.
