BLACKSBURG - The Hokies continued the home slate with four victories in the Hokie Invitational. A men's team first place finish, a women's team first place finish and two individual top marks.
The Virginia Tech Invitational welcomed three teams on both sides with 78 total athletes. Those competing among Tech were Concord and East Tennessee State.
Nicholas Kipchirchir claimed the individual title for the men's 8K race, collecting his second career win as a Hokie, and setting a personal best of 22:41.9. The freshman averaged 4:34 per mile and finished 43.4 seconds ahead of the next fastest competitor.
Sharon Chepchirchir collected her first win in a Virginia Tech jersey, securing the women's 6K race in 20:55.4 with an average mile of 5:36.6.
The Hokie men and women combined for 12 top-10 marks in the meet, the best finishes of the 2024 season so far.
