BLACKSBURG – The Hokies remained unbeaten with a 2-0 shutout victory over High Point on Sunday evening at Thompson Field.

Virginia Tech (5-0-1) recorded its fifth clean sheet of the season and has only allowed one goal through six contests.

Allie George and Natalie Mitchell each netted a goal for the Hokies in the win.

How it Happened
High Point came out firing, forcing Lauren Hargrove to make a big save in the fourth minute. Despite the Panthers tallying four shots in the first eight minutes of play, the Hokies responded with chances of their own and struck first in the 32nd minute.

A beautiful cross by Kendall DiMillio found Natalie Mitchell right in front of the net for the 1-0 early Hokie lead. It is Mitchell’s second goal of the season.

Tech maintained momentum throughout the second half and tallied 11 shots to the Panthers’ five. High Point threatened once again off a free kick in the 64th minute, but Hargrove made the diving save to preserve the shutout.

With just under one minute remaining, Allie George came up with the ball off a corner kick and chipped it in high left to cement the Hokie victory.

It’s George’s second goal in as many games as she also scored the game-winning goal against Loyola Maryland on Thursday.
